Composition 19

“A scarification pot I made some time ago. It has been through 8 firing minimum and I can't exactly say I'm satisfied with the overall surface. I've been having issues with getting more carbon trapped into the body of the piece and I'm throwing in the towel. I may have overfired it in one of the first firings or I need to tweak my saggar more. I still do enjoy certain qualities of this one. I'll look into doing more banding with the scarification texture for some future pieces. However, I won't be as experimental with the ferric chloride without testing on test tiles first. haha I was putting colorants in one of my washes to see if I could get a cool effect, and it just got darker. Lesson learned and some things to think about for future works. The blues are from washes of cobalt sulfate and the blushes of red from the various washes of ferric chloride. (I also used steel wool for the web-like lines)”
