Composition 20
“This was one of the last-minute pieces made for the Texas City Art Festival. It's a wheel throw pot made from Buffalo Wallow clay and cover with a low-fire slip before applying terrasigilatta. I applied multiple coats of ferric chloride and was expecting it to be re. As you can see, it wasn't the case. I think it was due to me saggar firing in an electric kiln and my saggar cracking, I like the pink finish, though. I also wrapped the vessel with copper wire, then put it inside a bag with miracle gro and epsom salt spray fixed to the inside. This this was one and done in regards to the firing. Packing the saggar tightly for direct contact helps a lot with getting the effects of things like the miracle gro to show on the surface.”
